LAST NIGHT A HORSE is a journey between two worlds: the spirit of a wild horse and the question of transgender.
Wearing a GoPro on her head, Frau Hauser plays a musical saw. Enfant terrible, she perceives sensitive, subversive zones linked to animal and human ill-treatment. She questions the norms of gender, the relationship with others and with horses. Sig Valax uses field-recording, modular synthesisers and voice, inspired by adorcism (calling on positive spiritual entities) to create a universe of sound. She channels forms of appeasement. The incantatory expression of the two performers is an invitation to blur boundaries.
Detailed description of the performance
In LAST NIGHT A HORSE, Sandra Hauser and Sig Valax propose a journey between two worlds, evoking the spirit of a wild horse and the question of transgender.
This poetic experience plays on the transversality between animal communication, queer identity and sisterhood. The two performers have developed an art using video and sound that expresses their sensitive perceptions and psychic connections.
The audience are seated in a semi-circle opposite a screen. The scenic space is visible simultaneously on the screen and live-streamed on the web.
Wearing a GoPro on her head, Frau Hauser plays a musical saw. A stream of objects projected onto the screen inspire a stream of thought in which she questions her identity - is she a man, a stallion or a woman? Her own mental images are visible to us, we can feel her animal presence and emotions in a spontaneously liberating chaotic flow. She uses breathing and dynamic phrasing to pronounce the words of tormented souls and those in need of soothing, she expresses what escapes us. Enfant terrible, she perceives sensitive, subversive zones linked to animal and human ill-treatment. She questions the norms of relationships with others, with animals and with gender. Sig Valax supports and interacts with her, using field-recording, electronic music and ancestral song induced by adorcism (the act of calling on positive spiritual entities) to create a universe of sound. She channels forms of appeasement and welcomes benevolent energies. Together, they embody a form of incantation in which the presence of absence becomes a profoundly raw experience.
LAST NIGHT A HORSE opens up a magical space that modifies the perceptions of the performers and their audience: the boundaries between species shift, the audience are invited to sharpen their senses and enter a new state of consciousness shared by humans and non-humans.
